Logistics Company in Hamburg cooperates with Chinese Partner

A large project in the Chinese automobile industry is coordinated from Hamburg. / A partner company in Shanghai prepares parts for shipment on location. / A successful partnership for five years.

Hamburg/Shanghai. The akf siemers Group from Hamburg is leading a large project for the Chinese automobile industry: an entire lacquer facility will be shipped from China to Brazil. Coordinated from Hamburg a cross trade will take place. akf siemers is responsible for the transport and stor-age in China before the parts are shipped to South America.

Sebastian Schiffner, the general manager of akf siemers logistics LLC states, “Five years ago we began our partnership in Shanghai. Because of our reliable partners on location in Shanghai we can manage the entire project com-fortably while in Hamburg.” akf siemers logistics oversees the packaging and FOB processing in Shanghai, this means, shipment of the parts until they are free on board ship in the Shanghai harbor. Additionally, the Chi-nese division of Eisenman Inc. ships the various bulky facility parts with trucks to Shanghai Sunnew, akf siemers’ partner. Schiffner explaines, “Our partner has about 30 employees on location in Shanghai who are safely packaging the sensitive parts so they are prepared for sea transport. After the facility parts are suitably packaged for transport in wooden crates, they are sorted by size and either packaged in containers or on flat racks and are transported to the harbor and loaded on board.

This project will con-tinue until the end of the year. In total about 200 forty-foot container will be packed and stored at Shanghai Sunnew and 60 large components will be loaded onto 40’ flat racks, because they are too large to fit in a standard container. “The largest part measures 11,90 x 3,70 x 4,28 meters and has a weight when packaged of 9,4 tons,” says Schiffner.
