Indonesian Contract for Rack Clad warehouses
by Press Release on 2011-12-18Schaefer’s Indonesian office has been awarded a contract to build 3 rack clad warehouses for 150,000 pallet locations, for the storage of raw materials at the manufacturing facilities at Kediri some 3 hours drive from Surabaya of Gudang Garam, one of Indonesia’s largest cigarette producers.
The first warehouse is due to be commissioned early in 2013; the second and third warehouses will follow at approximately 4 months intervals
This follows the award earlier this year for another two contracts, each for a rack clad warehouse, at the companies head office at Gempol.
All warehouses have been designed to seismic standards, Schaefer’s contract includes the provision of AS/RS cranes and conveyors, with the warehouse management and material flow system from Salomon.
A team from Schaefer’s Regional Head office in Singapore, using Indonesian steel erectors, will undertake the supervism of the installation of the racking system.
The total value of the 3 contracts exceeds Euro42m, the largest Schaefer has won in APAC, will be completed by early 2014, it represents over 10,000 metric tonnes of rolled profiles of which 30% will be supplied from the company’s Malaysian factory.
The first warehouse is currently under construction and will be commissioned by QTR2 2012.
